Carry On films has been a part of English culture for 50 years and since 1958 has made household names out of actors like Windsor, Sid James and Kenneth Williams. In 2008, the latest Carry on script has just been approved and the long awaited 32nd film is on track to be released for its 50th anniversary later in the year.
The final story line for Carry On London has been signed off on and after a 16 year absence, the production company knew it had to be something extra special. The story of Carry On London follows a limousine company hired to take actors to the Herberts, Carry On’s version of the Oscars.
While the film was launched at the House of Commons in 2003, it has been faced with a myriad of delays since then. The main stars, Daniella Westbrook from EastEnders and Shaun Williamson were lost, and so too was the producer, James Black. Westbrook was seen as being the next Barbara Windsor and when Williamson pulled out too, even his agent was disappointed because of the quality of the script.
The final casting details for the replacements will be announced later this year and you can even expect some interesting cameos. Producers have confirmed that parts of the set are being built at Pinewood Studios, in Bucks and this includes a car yard to depict the limousine hire company.
While the last attempt to revive Carry On in 1992 with Carry On Columbus was a flop, the founder of the film concept, and the producer of Carry On London, Peter Rogers is hoping the new, vibrant script and the talented cast will make for a memorable anniversary.
If the increased popularity of limousines and limousine hire in the last 50 years is anything to go by, Carry On London is sure to be a hit. For more information about limo hire in London, or about hiring a limo to go and see Carry On London, contact Limo Crazy now.
